iMONITRAF! Annual Report 2021

Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic impressively highlight the benefits of reducing traffic volumes on the transalpine corridors: while air quality limits were exceeded at five measurement stations along the major transit corridors in 2019, only one station saw an exceedance in 2020 – thanks to considerably lower traffic volumes. This insight supports the approach of iMONITRAF! that focuses on modal shift as major rationale for its common policy approach. The new iMONITRAF! Policy pathway developed in 2021 offers insights on how this approach can be supported by regional initiatives.

More information on this new Policy pathway, on iMONITRAF! activities on Toll Plus and the Eurovignette Directive, further networking activities and other topics are summarized in the Annual Report 2021. It gives an overview on recent Best Practices related to freight and passenger transport, on relevant transport and environmental indicators and sets the agenda for further discussions. We invite you to take a look at this Annual Report to keep you up-to-date on developments of the network.
