Transport Forum "Towards a new strategy in the Alpine Space"

26 - 27 May, 2010, Innsbruck (A)

With the slogan "Towards a new strategy in the Alpine Space" the project partners have reached the first milestone by publishing a Best Practice Guide and laid the cornerstone for a future strategy.
With the INTERREG project iMONITRAF!, partners from the main transit regions take up the mandate from the final resolution which was formulated during the first project MONITRAF.
The Best Practice Guide is a toolbox for political decision makers and creates a common basis of knowledge as well as an impulse for further discussions. Focused on impact analysis, the process of implementation and political and legal restrictions, the Best Practice Guide shows strengths and weaknesses of existing measures. Furthermore it offers a decision making aid for the transfer of measures.
The publication of the Best Practice Guide was also the reason to organise the first iMONITRAF! Transport Forum which took place on May 26 /27, 2010 in Innsbruck (Austria). About 110 participants took part and informed themselves about the first activities of the project and provided inputs for the further development of the strategy. A final podium discussion gave place to expectations and claims of representatives of different political levels. The discussions during the Transport Forum showed that a common implementation of selected measures is an important basis for a common strategy. At the same time it became apparent that further efforts of the project partners are needed regarding common and innovative measures.
